I wasn’t ready.
Not even close.
How do you say goodbye to someone who was such a huge part of your life?
There’s no way to prepare for your absence.
And there’s no way to fill it.
You were my constant.
The one I turned to without even thinking.
And although you’ve been gone from this earth for 10 years, I often find myself reaching out — for your hand on the couch, to hear your voice, to get your guidance.
I hear you and feel you all the time.
Our love remains.
Our bond remains.
And so does the promise I made—to remember you not just with sadness, but with immense gratitude.
I wasn’t ready to lose you.
But I’ll spend the rest of my life honoring you—because loving you was one of the best things I ever got to do. – Mary Beth Gonzalez
A true legend. Dr. Gonzalez possessed a scientific mind that probably comes along once in a generation. We are a much better world because of his contributions to the field of medicine.
I miss my brother-in-law in so many ways. I remember how he doted on my sister’s every move. He was engaging, generous with his time and wisdom. And with a twinkle in his eye, you could always count on his dry sense of humor. He taught me something with every conversation we had whether it was about medicine, baseball or the Bible. He was certainly a valued member of our family.
I don’t profess to know actually anything about medicine or the science behind the work Nick did, but I do know of the impact he made in the medical world. He was well respected, praised as a genius and a trail blazer. We are in a better world because of Nick.
The work that continues through The Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation is so important not just to continue his work and to treat patients who need it. But it is important to view Nick’s life as a blessing that taught us all to fight for what we believe in, to challenge the status quo, and to teach others that the world needs brave, smart people to take a risk to improve the lives of others.
Like I said, I miss my brother-in-law. – Chris Pryor
It is with profound admiration and gratitude that I reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez, a true pioneer, maverick scientist, and healer who embodied the rare blend of rigorous intellect, unwavering integrity, and deep spirituality. Dr. Gonzalez was, in every sense, the salt of the earth — a man of principle, humility, and courage who dedicated his life to the service of others.
What inspired me most about Dr. Gonzalez was not only his extraordinary scientific mind, but also his fearless pursuit of truth, even when it meant standing apart from the mainstream. He forged a path few dared to walk, questioning assumptions, challenging dogma, and relentlessly seeking what was best for his patients — no matter the personal cost.
In an era where one-size-fits-all medicine often prevails, Dr. Gonzalez cemented the importance of true personalized treatment, recognizing that healing must honor the unique biochemistry, constitution, spirituality and history of each individual. His work with patients facing critical illnesses, especially cancer and chronic complex diseases, touched and transformed countless lives. He saw the person behind the disease — not just as a patient, but as a sacred being deserving of respect, compassion, and a chance at real recovery.
Beyond the science, Dr. Gonzalez was a man of deep faith. His spiritual grounding infused his work with purpose and grace. He taught us that healing is not merely the domain of the body, but of the soul; that medicine, at its best, is both an art and a sacred calling.
For me, Dr. Gonzalez remains a guiding light both personally and professionally — an enduring reminder that we must always strive to serve with heart, to think boldly, and to honor the trust patients place in our hands. His legacy lives on in the lives he saved, the hope he gave, and the future he shaped for integrative and personalized medicine.
May his work continue to inspire generations of healers beginning from us; the Gonzalez Guardians , the Gonzalez Stars. And may we have the courage to follow his example — with humility, dedication, and an unshakable belief in the healing power of truth.

The Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation
In the quiet moments of reflection, I remember a healer whose light continues to shine long after his passing in July 2015. Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez possessed that rare combination of brilliance and compassion that transforms medical practice into something approaching art.
Having had the privilege of witnessing Dr. Gonzalez in his element—observing his interactions with patients and discussing cases in the sanctuary of his office—I was struck by his remarkable gift of discernment. Within mere minutes of meeting someone, he could see through layers of complexity to the person beneath, understanding not just their condition but their character, their struggles, and their hopes.
His dedication to his patients transcended conventional medical practice. When others had pronounced certain conditions incurable, Dr. Gonzalez would discover pathways to healing that others had overlooked. He approached each case with unwavering commitment, often helping patients overcome health challenges that had seemed insurmountable.
What set Dr. Gonzalez apart was his courage to seek truth, regardless of convention. His strong character allowed him to stand firm in his convictions, pursuing what he believed was right even when it meant walking a solitary path. He exemplified that rare integrity that chooses conscience over convenience.
His intellectual capacity was nothing short of extraordinary. The depth and breadth of his knowledge reflected a lifelong devotion to learning. Yet more impressive than his ability to absorb information was his gift for sharing it—translating complex medical concepts into understanding that empowered his patients and colleagues alike.
Though years have passed since his departure, the legacy of Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez lives on in the countless lives he touched, in the healing he facilitated, and in the example he set for all who seek to practice medicine with both heart and mind fully engaged.
In remembering him, we honor not just a doctor, but a visionary who reminded us that healing at its most profound is an act of both science and soul.
I remember meeting Dr. Gonzalez in the mid-90’s at a Cancer Control Society conference in California… immediately I was struck by his brilliant mind and passion for his work! His lecture was stunning to a young doctor, me, and one to emulate.
In the early 2000’s I learned more about his work and started to integrate some if his principles at my treatment center, Hope4Cancer, in Tijuana, Mexico.
A bit less than 20 years later his legacy continues as I was trained and certified as a Gonzalez Guardian, together with a handful of other brilliant healers!
Thank you Dr. Gonzalez for your work, your tenacity, your ability to see the invisible in the visible world and for having an impact on my medical career.
May your work continue through many generations…. As it deserves to!
It has been ten years since Dr. Gonzalez’s passing, and I am grateful for the years I worked as his office manager up until 2015. I saw firsthand how his protocol changed and saved lives, and how dedicated he was to his patients and his work.
I am thankful to continue supporting the mission he began, now working alongside his wife, Mary Beth, and the team of doctors who are carrying on his protocol. It is an honor to be part of continuing his legacy and ensuring his work remains available for those seeking this path of care.
I would not be alive today if I had not found Dr Gonzalez.
He was an exceptional man and always gave me hope even when times were tough.
When I was really unwell he told me if I did his programme I would see my sons graduate from school and yesterday I saw my son graduate from Edinburgh University.
I will be eternally grateful to him. I still do his programme 15 years on as I still believe in him.
As a patient of Dr Gonzalez for 2 years before his tragic passing I experienced his kindness and dedication to his patients. Before deciding to consult with Dr Gonzalez, I had listened and read everything I could find about him and his protocol, it made so much sense even to someone without a medical background. I had my first consult in 2012 and started his protocol immediately on returning to home. I started to feel well and had more energy than I had in years. I could call him any time for advice, and he was always there with some guidance and encouragement. He was the first source of hope I had felt, and believed in. I am still doing very well and have never had conventional treatment, I shall always be grateful to the incredible healer and human that he was. Thank you Mary Beth and the other dedicated Doctors for continuing his work to help save others. I am truly grateful.
What an honor it is to leave you a message Dr. Gonzalez. I was introduced to you after you passed, but would have loved to have met you in person, or see you speak in public. I believe you are one of the greatest Doctors and one of the best cancer Doctors in history! I absolutely know that many people miss you dearly and that you have impacted so many peoples lives positively! Your teachings of health will continue on and continue helping countless people worldwide. Thank you for saving many people’s lives. Thank you for all you have done Dr. Gonzalez – you are a maverick!
I didn’t know you personally but wanted to say you touch the lives of so many all across the world.
Finding your work on TTAC was a light bulb moment. Watching your videos your genius was so evident. Every word spoken was one brilliant truth after another.
You tied together so many seemingly conflicting dietary advice and explained cancer like no other. Your approach to gently shepherd the body rather than declaring war against it felt like it could be expanded as a bigger truth for humanity.
Thank you for your words to Dr Kelly Brogan on the Greek Suntaleia and the glorious world to follow. I have had them pinned to my kitchen wall since I first read them and they have acted as lifeline over the years, particularly the covid craziness.
I am just so deeply grateful for your beautiful life and I have such deep sympathy for the hole your passing must’ve left in your loved ones lives.
My most sincerest thank you ❤️
Today, July 21, 2025, it’s exactly ten years since Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez’s untimely passing. Dr. Nick and I were close friends for 25 years. As an investigative journalist, I interviewed him more than any other reporter for articles in print and online, and for broadcasts. Dr. Nick was brilliant, a true humanitarian, and a highly principled and innovative clinician. As a medical reporter, I knew most of the leading lights in the field of innovative medicine. Nicholas Gonzalez, M.D. was truly among the best of them. Fortunately, his memory and contributions are being preserved through the work of the Nicholas Gonzalez Foundation. Shortly after he passed away, I wrote a 3,000 word memoir about him that was published in 2016 in a peer reviewed, Medline-indexed medical journal. It can be read free online at https://tinyurl.com/pbcdrnick
Dr. Gonzalez was a saint and precious Soul. His brilliance, compassion, and incredible wisdom was my guiding light 36 years ago, while going through cancer. His knowledge of this disease taught me so much, and his encouragement kept me going. I will forever be grateful to him for helping save my life, and the lives of thousands of others going through cancer. His star still burns brightly in the hearts and minds of all of us that were blessed to know him and receive his healing wisdom.
I would not be alive today if it were not for Nick Gonzalez. I was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in 1992 and was informed by my surgeon that I had three months to live. I am a registered nurse and knew how harmful the traditional chemo therapy program would be to me. While I was in the hospital recuperating from a total hysterectomy, facing a terminal diagnosis, my two best friends walked in holding a book in their hands, titled” One answer to cancer” by Dr. Kelly. I read the book and I was immediately convinced that it was the best route for me to heal. It was a “natural” program. I made an appointment immediately with Dr. Gonzalez who I was informed
was carrying
on Dr. Kelly’s program. I was immediately enchanted with Dr. Gonzalez and I knew that he would help me. I started the program immediately. It was difficult as I was still working and did not have a lot of money saved. This alternative program was not covered by insurance and cost a lot of money for
supplements which would have to be paid for out-of-pocket. I borrowed
money from my friends and family. All my friends who were in the medical
field with me were against the idea. I knew it was right for me. I have been on
the program for 33 years. I am a healthy, happy 86 year old woman who owes
her joyful , healthy and fulfilled life to this brave courageous man! Thank you
and god bless you my angel in heaven! 🙏

I wrote this many years ago, shortly after Dr. Gonzalez passed onward. It still rings true to me many years later and is the best thing I can think to write here, so here is my view on why Dr. Gonzalez was a great doctor:
A great doctor listens. When a great doctor’s patients say something is wrong, a great doctor believes them and looks for answers.
A great doctor offers advice in a way that doesn’t patronize and doesn’t lecture but draws on years of experience and gently guides.
A great doctor follows the truth wherever it leads, without regard to whether the truth is a plant, a patent medicine, a practice or a supplement.
A great doctor accepts that the truth can come from unlikely sources, and is willing to investigate it.
A great doctor never stops learning and never stops looking for the truth. When the great doctor finds truth, money and politics cannot divert the great doctor’s interest and application.
A great doctor knows when patients need reassurance and when they need the harsh truth, and delivers both in a non-offensive way.
A great doctor leaves room for miracles while minimizing the need for them.
A great doctor understands the tangible (what is learned in medical school and in practice) and the intangible (what cannot be learned but can only be observed and learned from).
A great doctor understands that people are infinitely different, with common threads.
A great doctor understands that a doctor is more of a guide than a healer. The patient’s body and spirit are the healers.
A great doctor maintains distance, but not too much.
A great doctor does not seek the limelight except when doing so could help heal more people.
A great doctor will go to great lengths for patients. The great doctor will be as patient with them as they are with the great doctor.
I still miss you, Dr. G! And there are still great doctors and people carrying on your work.
